Our company uses a sulfur-resistant shift process, low-temperature methanol washing, and liquid nitrogen washing for purification. How is the alcohol-containing waste liquid from the low-temperature methanol washing process treated?

Methanol and water are separated in a methanol-water separation tower; the methanol vapor at the top of the tower is sent back to the thermal regeneration tower as a vapor for stripping methanol, thereby enabling its recovery. The wastewater at the bottom of the tower, containing less than 0.1% methanol, is sent to wastewater treatment facilities for biological treatment.
Agree with what was said above; methanol can first be separated through distillation, and the residue from this distillation process can be used as a nutrient source for wastewater treatment
Generally, there is no separate wastewater treatment facility designed specifically for the wastewater from the methanol-water separation tower in the low-temperature methanol washing process; instead, it is the plant’s overall wastewater treatment system that is used, with the wastewater from this separation tower being sent to it along with wastewater from other processes for centralized treatment!

What was said on floor 5 is correct – there is no separate wastewater treatment facility designed specifically for the methanol-water separation wastewater from low-temperature methanol washing; this wastewater is sent to the plant’s overall wastewater treatment system for centralized processing!
The methanol content in the wastewater from the methanol-water separation tower is required to be below 0.1%.
The methanol content in the wastewater from our methanol-water separation tower is required to be below 0.05%, but it often ranges around 10PPM. Generally, as long as the steam supply to the reboiler is properly controlled and the temperature at the bottom of the tower remains within the specified limits, the concentration will not exceed the allowed level. Exceptions occur only when there are fluctuations in the steam supply or during shutdowns when it’s difficult to maintain control; under normal conditions, no adjustments are needed to meet the requirements for the wastewater. As for the wastewater treatment plant mentioned by Brother Lou, actually they can handle quite high concentrations of methanol; sometimes wastewater with around 5% methanol content is discharged as well. However, it’s necessary to inform them in advance, otherwise if the bacteria in the wastewater treatment plant are killed, there will be consequences
If you can’t use it yourself, you can sell it or give it to enterprises or municipal biochemical wastewater treatment plants. Wastewater treatment plants generally use a large amount of bacteria during maintenance work, and it’s okay if the concentration is high; they adjust the amount based on the progress of bacterial cultivation.
