The compressor piston rings are heavily worn, while the support rings are only slightly worn. Is it because the support ring doesn’t function during movement?
Well, in most cases it’s probably like that; otherwise it could be an issue with the piston ring installation – there might be an improper fit, or too little axial clearance, which prevents rotation. Rotation is necessary for lubrication, especially in situations of dry grinding (I’m referring to conditions where there is no oil lubrication inside the cylinder). Answer completed
If the piston rings are worn, it is likely due to insufficient clearance on the side of the ring groove, which causes sticking as temperature rises and leads to wear; check the side clearance.
