I would like to ask those who work in the chlor-alkali industry: what is approximately your consumption of hydrochloric acid for internal use? What is the average consumption of hydrazine per ton? For a production capacity of 150,000 tons of caustic soda, is 20,000 tons per year of 31% high-purity hydrochloric acid sufficient? Thank you,, -

20,000 tons of 31% hydrochloric acid should not be enough; the consumption per ton of hydrochloric acid is roughly 0.14 tons. Calculate it yourself

150000*0.14=21000. I don’t understand how 70000 was obtained

We can calculate it! Asahi Kasei’s design assumes a consumption of 47 kg of hydrogen chloride per 100 kg of alkali consumed; this is still an estimated value! The 0.14 tons mentioned upstairs seems to be the right figure; what could be considered wrong then?
If there is a chlorate decomposition tank and no acid is added to the electrolyzer, the chlorine consumption per ton of alkali is 31%, with 85–90 kg of hydrochloric acid required. Without a chlorate decomposition tank, no acid is added to the cell; the chlorine consumption per ton of alkali is 31%, with 50–60 kg of hydrochloric acid required. If acid is added to the cell and a chlorate decomposition tank is used, the chlorine consumption per ton of alkali remains at 31%, but around 120 kg of hydrochloric acid is needed. It’s not very accurate, but I hope it helps you.
Our average specific consumption is 0.08 tons of alkali per ton of product, and this amount refers to alkali other than that used for internal purposes.

I’m not sure if hydrochloric acid is used for the regeneration of your resin beds; if so, it needs to be taken into consideration.
