I work in the field of craftsmanship, and I’m not very familiar with many aspects of civil engineering; could everyone please explain them to me? What is a foundation, and what constitutes the foundation of equipment? Are foundations shown on the CAD drawings created by civil engineers?
The foundation is used to directly bear the loads from above the building and transfer them to the ground. It is a part of a building, and there are strip foundations, independent foundations, box foundations, raft foundations, etc. The foundation is used to bear the loads transmitted from the base; there are natural foundations as well as those that have been reinforced artificially. Large and medium-sized equipment needs to be installed on reinforced concrete or steel platforms, and sometimes holes must be created for the anchor bolts used to fix the equipment in place. This platform is generally slightly larger than the equipment itself, and this is what is known as an equipment foundation.

Reply to 7# moqichangqing: The points mentioned on the 2nd, 4th, and 7th floors are good. The structural diagram should include the foundations of equipment, buildings, and utility tunnels, but these are not all that the structural drawings cover.

It’s sufficient to just know that aspect. But now I need to design a foundation for equipment; what factors should be taken into consideration here? What is the weight of the equipment? Then decide what material to use for the foundation below? How deep does the foundation need to be?
