This is difficult to control; the overflow is caused by the temperature of the reaction within the generator. When the reaction temperature inside the generator is high, water is added to cool it down, resulting in overflow.
Excess water carries away the heat of reaction; so what is the solid content of the overflow at a temperature of 85–90 degrees?
This solid content is not fixed; there is no exact value. This is related to various factors such as the temperature of the water added to the generator and the amount of calcium carbide fed in.
