I recently got a job at a quality inspection laboratory. What types of large-scale instruments do you think I should focus on learning?
One should learn everything related to the job position*. But the most important thing is not to focus on what specific knowledge to learn, but to start by learning how to be a person first. Be a person first, then do things.
Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the principles, usage rules, and general maintenance of all the instruments in your position. Generally speaking, it’s sufficient for your job.
Learn how to operate the instruments needed for the work. Pay attention to every detail and master the basic skills. Learn from colleagues*, while being a person and doing work ； Work hard and think more. In this way, one can perform one’s duties competently and earn the appreciation of colleagues.
One should be able to use all the instruments associated with this position effectively, as well as know how to maintain and repair them. Doing things that others cannot do will enable better career development.

There are a vast variety of instruments and equipment, and it’s impossible to learn everything about them all. At the moment, focus on your job and acquire the background knowledge needed for it. Later, if time permits, one can consider expanding and developing their knowledge.
In our company, I am the only person responsible for instrumental analysis; I have to operate 6 instruments, which is exhausting:sleepy:
