Staying in an English-speaking country such as the UK or the US for two years will definitely improve your skills; it’s the fastest way. Other methods include enrolling in English tutoring classes. In your spare time, you can watch English movies, TV shows, news, and read newspapers, etc. Alternatively, you could make a foreign friend; you teach him Chinese while he teaches you English. This way, both of you can improve together—a win-win situation.

When I was a student, I used to think that learning English was extremely difficult; despite investing a lot of time and effort into it, my grades in English were poor throughout both high school and university. This was because I misunderstood the purpose of learning English. It wasn’t until I started working at a foreign company that I realized it’s sufficient to practice English as part of communication and daily activities. If you keep doing this, you will make great progress in the near future.

1. The most important thing in learning English is its practical application – you must learn by using it in real situations, rather than waiting until you’re “ready” before applying what you’ve learned. This way, you’ll achieve better results.
2. At the beginning, there’s no need to strive for perfection; being able to communicate is enough. It’s okay if mistakes happen.
3. Don’t focus solely on memorization; it’s not necessary to put in so much effort. Consider it part of everyday communication, just like how rural elders may not know how to write their own names but can speak fluent dialects, which is enough for them throughout their lives.
4. If you’re still a student, try to broaden your horizons and not limit yourself to exam-related learning. I really suffered a lot because of that back then.
5. Speak up bravely, ignore psychological barriers, and communicating with foreigners is highly beneficial. It was through communicating with foreigners that I improved a lot.

Let’s learn together*! ““Studying English was very difficult.” Why is ‘was’ used with the verb, and yet there are plural nouns following it? ? It’s recommended to remove this part: “Although I devoted a lot of my energy and time to it, my grades in English remained poor throughout my secondary school and university.” One could say “someone spends some time on something” or “something takes someone some time”. Also, “although” and “but” shouldn’t be used together. Additionally, in the phrase “since I worked in a foreign enterprises”, how can there be a plural noun after “a”? “If you keep doing this, you will make great progress in the near future.” Do you mean that I should keep doing this? To keep doing something means to persist in carrying out that action. Moreover, after ‘will’, only the base form of a verb can be used – how can it be ‘doing’? ?

Then start with high school textbooks; memorizing words remains the top priority. Learning English requires perseverance and gradual accumulation; there are no shortcuts
