Is it mandatory to have fire dikes and spare accident ammonia tanks in the liquid ammonia storage area, as stated in this sentence? Do large liquid ammonia spheres also require spares? Thank you!
The purpose of installing a backup ammonia tank is to allow the ammonia contained within it to be diverted to the backup tank in case of a leakage in the main equipment.

The safety and environmental protection authorities here have raised this issue, recommending that we acquire spare ammonia tanks so that in the event of an accident or leak in the tanks containing liquid ammonia, it is possible to transfer the ammonia to another tank. Helplessly.
It is a requirement that a fire dike be installed in the liquid ammonia storage area; its height is approximately 1.5 meters
The requirements are mainly based on considerations of safety and environmental protection; it will depend on the actual situation
The spare equipment for liquid ammonia spheres does not necessarily have to be of normal size; a smaller liquid ammonia storage tank can be used instead.
Our factory’s ammonia tank also lacks a backup tank, and the purpose of the cofferdam is mainly to allow for the discharge of large amounts of water in order to dilute and dissolve the ammonia in case of a leak; large-sized water pipes are installed around the cofferdam. What is the actual purpose of firebreaks?
Dikes and accident emergency ponds must be installed; spare storage tanks should also be provided, but this is not mandatory – it depends on the actual conditions of your company. If it is a horizontal tank, it is best to have a backup tank; if it is a spherical tank, there should be at least two of them. Even without a backup tank, the filling level of the storage tank should be strictly controlled during operation, with a certain amount of headroom reserved for emergency use.
The gas purification moderator didn’t understand what I meant
Our ammonia tank area is equipped with firewalls and spare empty tanks, as well as accident spray water systems – all of which are required by safety standards.

Reply 9#: The purpose of a fire dike is to prevent open flames outside the designated area from igniting the combustible gases with high concentrations within that area, thus serving as a barrier for isolation.
