The regenerative reboiler in our workshop is leaking again. What is the exact cause of this internal leakage? Is it mainly due to corrosion? How can its lifespan be extended through proper operations?
Leaks in the reboiler are caused, firstly, by corrosion, secondly, by poor manufacturing quality, and thirdly, by improper installation; Fourth, overheating and overpressure may have occurred during operation.

In the past, we’ve had multiple instances of reboiler leaks; the main cause is corrosion. On the one hand, the material of the tube bundle was replaced with aluminum-impregnated material, and on the other hand, an amine liquid purification system was installed; as a result, the situation has improved significantly.
In my opinion, if it’s a slow leakage, then it’s caused by corrosion; the best solution is to upgrade the material
Another reason is that heat-siphon reboilers are more prone to corrosion compared to axe-type reboilers.
