When using water, the addition of other substances can easily cause blockages in the nozzles of the scrubbing tower; the wastewater resulting from the scrubbing process also needs further treatment. The alkali used for neutralization can be added in subsequent steps.
Now many people say it’s better to wash it with water; I haven’t tried it. Sodium hydroxide is still the better choice; as long as the concentration is well controlled and the temperature isn’t too high. It’s better not to use calcium hydroxide; if it’s not washed, it tends to precipitate.
