In our plant, the catalyst in one of the medium-temperature shift reactors has lost its activity; however, we can’t replace it right now. Please ask experts and specialists for some advice: handshake
There isn’t a very good solution; if it’s possible to maintain production and keep it running, that’s what should be done. If production cannot be maintained, then it’s necessary to replace it.

Operating at reduced load can extend the service life while waiting for a new catalyst.
If the pulverization is severe enough to increase resistance, it is recommended to replace it; otherwise, the operating costs will be too high and the losses will be significant.
The only option is to reduce the load in order to maintain production; it might be useful to slightly increase the inlet temperature of the converter and raise the water vapor ratio. If the CO content at the outlet increases, the load on the methanization process will also rise. As long as the amount of trace CO+CO2 entering the synthesis process remains below the limit (less than 10 ppm), production can be maintained; otherwise, the only solution is to replace the catalyst

1. The inlet temperature of the medium-frequency furnace can be increased appropriately first; if that doesn’t work, it can be adjusted to its maximum value; 2. If the auxiliary line has been adjusted to its limit, in order to maintain production, only electric furnace processing can be used (it must be a built-in electric furnace) ; 3. If that doesn’t work either, there’s no other choice but to replace the catalyst. For reference only!
