A speedometer consists of two probes at a fixed distance apart, one of which emits a signal and the other receives it. In this way, the flow rate can be measured. And a densitometer is a radioactive instrument. The issue with SHELL’s coal line can be assessed from two aspects: one is speed, namely whether the curve on the density trend chart is continuous and stable. Second, the speed value should be between 7-12 M/S

There are currently two types of speedometers: one is the German Bertoe electrostatic type, and the other is the American thermoelectric capacitive type. The principles of the two methods are similar. Typically, two coils spaced at a fixed distance L are built into the sensor; the signals related to the coal powder in the pipeline are measured simultaneously. The time difference T between the return times of these two signals can be determined, and a correlation analysis is performed on the two real-time signals. If the correlation is good, the velocity V can be calculated directly as V = L/T. Advantages and disadvantages of these two principles: the electrostatic type is more advanced and does not require any specific density for the coal. Capacitive types are limited to lower densities, with a threshold of typically 400 kg/m3. The accuracy of the instrument itself is also of high Bertol level.
How is the calibration of flow meters carried out? Are there any detailed materials?
The flow meter consists of two parts: a densitometer and a velocimeter. The speedometer does not require calibration; only the parameters need to be set and optimized. The densitometer is a radioactive densitometer, and there are various calibration methods: 1. Calibration at normal pressure with an empty tank. 2. Calibrate using two points: water level and empty tank. 3. Calibrate with steel plates. 4. Add coal powder for calibration. Of course, the most accurate method is the fourth one. The easiest method is the first one. Different manufacturers have different calibration methods. It depends on whose product you are buying.
