Zhuhai Bipi Chemical Co., Ltd. is a joint venture jointly established by BP Company and Zhuhai Port Group Co., Ltd. of the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, registered in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. The company is located in Dapingwan, Nanshui Town, within the petrochemical industrial zone of Gaolan Port Economic Zone. The first phase was completed and put into operation in 2003, featuring a production facility designed to manufacture 350,000 tons of purified terephthalic acid (abbreviated as PTA) per year ； The project passed the environmental protection inspection for completion issued by the Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau in December 2003. The second phase of the project was completed and put into operation at the end of 2007; it features a production facility designed to manufacture 900,000 tons of purified terephthalic acid (abbreviated as PTA) per year ； The project passed the environmental protection acceptance inspection for project completion by the **State Environmental Protection Administration in March 2009. This project is the third phase of Zhuhai BP Chemical Co., Ltd.’s production facility, with an annual capacity of 1.25 million tons of PTA. The total investment in this project amounts to approximately 475 million US dollars. Once completed, it will further increase the company’s production capacity, which will be of great significance for enhancing the competitiveness of BP Chemical Co., Ltd. in Zhuhai.
Where do they get their hydrogen? The amount should be quite large!
PTA faces considerable environmental pressure.
The third-phase PTA project with a capacity of 1.25 million tons requires an total investment of around $475 million. I’m a bit puzzled; given current market conditions, it seems unlikely that such a price can be achieved.
It should be an expansion, not a complete new construction. I participated in Phase 2.
