Another important reason for pellet charring is the effect of the circulation ratio. It is generally believed that a lower circulation ratio tends to cause pellet charring, but there are exceptions. Liaohe Petrochemical does not produce pellet coke at low circulation ratios; instead, it is produced at higher circulation ratios. The factors affecting the reaction mechanism remain to be determined. Another issue is an excessively high gas velocity within the coke tower; low pressure in the coke tower can also lead to the formation of pellet coke.
