This post was last edited by lovestory on 2011-1-21 at 17:14. The O-rings on the valve cover need to be replaced every time the compressor starts and stops. Do any of you have any good suggestions regarding the material to use for replacement, especially in winter?
It’s not that exaggerated, is it? The seal ring is only replaced if it has been cut; generally, there’s no need to replace it just because the valve is being serviced.
The key is the selection of compression ratio and fill factor
We use parts that are replaced each time, as high-pressure gas is forced into the rubber ring during operation. When the valve cover is removed, the gas inside the rubber ring is released, causing it to expand; therefore, such rubber rings cannot be reused.
What material are your O-rings made of?
I can’t remember the material; it was many years ago. It was a synthetic ammonia cycle machine, with nitrogen, hydrogen gas, and ammonia as the working media.
I always choose fluororubber O-rings that meet German standards for my designs
What is the pressure at the valve approximately? Is the deformation of the O-ring caused by swelling of the medium or by elastic deformation due to high pressure? If it’s due to all these factors together, I can help you choose a suitable O-ring or perfluoroelastomer ring. It can be tested.
Reply to 2# lovestory: I would like to ask where the valve gland is located? What is its function? Does it affect air volume regulation? Because in our selection software, there is a valve cap related to flow regulation; I’m not sure if it’s this component
Reply to 8# pipigang: I also have a hydrogen compressor, with an outlet pressure of 200 Bar at the third stage. Every time the gas valve is disassembled for inspection, the O-rings need to be replaced, as tears are always found on them; it seems this is caused by high-pressure pulsations. What are the characteristics of the O-ring you recommend?
