What are the purposes of a gas tightness test and a hydrostatic test?
The purpose of various tests is to 1. test the sealing integrity of the entire pipeline, and 2. test the strength of the pipe body
The simplest and most important purpose is to test the suitability of the products that have been designed and manufactured (such as pipes), including their airtightness (no leakage) and pressure resistance. Generally, for testing airtightness, the pressure is low and the duration is short, while for hydrostatic testing, the pressure is high and the duration is 1 hour or more (for containers). Of course, for hydrostatic testing of pipe manufacturers’ raw materials, only 5 seconds are usually required.
Check for visible leaks at the packing area, the upper and lower valve covers, and other locations
