Since I have no prior experience in the field of organic fluorine fine chemicals, I am offering a reward to all fellow sailors: important safety considerations for the production of organic fluorine fine chemicals! (Any kind of information or experience is fine; I won’t hold back if I think it’s good!) )

In the production of tetrafluoroethylene, care must be taken to prevent poisoning by octafluoroisobutylene. Ethylene tetrafluoride is a low-toxicity substance, but the synthesis process of ethylene tetrafluoride, as well as the pyrolysis and thermal decomposition products generated during its processing, are highly toxic. The pyrolysis gases generated during the production of tetrafluoroethylene using the F22 process contain highly toxic substances such as octafluorocyclobutane, tetrafluoroethylenecloride, hexafluoropropylene, and the highly poisonous octafluoroisobutylene. After being poisoned, the experimental monkeys produced bloody, foamy secretions; postmortem examination revealed acute chemical pneumonia and pulmonary edema, as well as varying degrees of congestion in the heart, liver, and kidneys, which were also swollen and cloudy. Tubular changes and myocardial damage were observed in the kidneys. Human poisoning can lead to toxic chemical pneumonia and pulmonary edema, with some patients developing ARDS. Appearance and properties of octafluoroisobutylene: colorless gas with a slight grassy odor ; Molecular weight 200.02 ; Boiling point: 6.5~7.0℃ ; Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ether and benzene ; Relative density (water=1): 1.59 (0°C) ; Acute toxicity: Lc50: 24.54 mg/m3, 1 hour (rat inhalation) ; 7.36 mg/m3, 2 hours (mouse inhalation) ; Rats died after inhaling 4.09 mg/m3 for 6 hours.
