I’ve never understood why the temperature in the drum of the Texaco furnace is only between 30 and 50 degrees Celsius. I asked the technician, who said there’s a dead zone at the bottom of the vaporization furnace, which is why the temperature is low. I’m not sure if that’s correct
Hehe, the lock hoppers generally discharge slag every half an hour; during this process, the water in the tank used for flushing the lock hoppers is replenished. The temperature of this water is around 20 degrees. In other words, during the slag collection process, the lock hoppers are filled with low-temperature water. The circulation pump for the lock hoppers can deliver only about 40 cubic meters of water per hour. The heat exchange between the lock hoppers and the gasification furnace occurs through the heat carried by the falling slag and the heat transferred when it comes into contact with the cooling water; therefore, the temperature doesn’t get very high, usually staying around 40 degrees
Hot water has a low density, while cold water has a high density. In a vaporization furnace, the water phase is heated from above; unlike when boiling water normally, where convection causes little difference in temperature between the top and bottom. In the quenching chamber of the gasification furnace, the temperature at the upper part is higher than that at the lower part. When the hopper circulation pump is in operation, it is mainly the heat generated by the slag and the heat dissipation from the hopper itself that cause changes in the hopper’s temperature; therefore, the temperature inside the hopper does not become very high.
