When selecting an absorbent, several factors need to be considered: 1) The absorbent should have good selectivity, that is, it should have a strong ability to dissolve the components to be separated, while being insoluble or only slightly soluble in other components. 2) The absorbent should have the highest possible solubility for the components to be separated. This can increase the absorption rate, reduce the amount of absorbent required, thereby reducing the size of the equipment and saving energy ; 3) The vapor pressure of the absorbent at the operating temperature is low, thereby reducing the volatilization losses of the absorbent during absorption and regeneration, as well as the impact of gas volatilization during absorption on the purity of the components to be absorbed ; 4) The viscosity of the absorbent at the operating temperature should be low, as this improves the flow conditions within the absorption tower and facilitates mass transfer.
