Zinc oxide desulfurization issue

Our plant uses the low-temperature methanol washing process for desulfurization and decarbonization; this process reduces the total sulfur content to below 0.5 ppm. We then use zinc oxide to further lower the total sulfur content in the gas to below 0.1 ppm. However, a strange phenomenon has occurred recently: at the inlet of the zinc oxide desulfurization tank, only hydrogen sulfide is detected, with no COS present, while at the outlet, there is only COS and no hydrogen sulfide. Moreover, the total sulfur content is almost the same at both the inlet and outlet. I would appreciate guidance from those with more experience – what could be the cause, and how should this issue be addressed? Thank you!
The COS in zinc oxide is in a saturated state, and the COS in zinc oxide has been desorbed. Zinc oxide also has the ability to remove hydrogen sulfide, which is why the phenomenon you mentioned occurs.
After running for a long time, the zinc oxide has become ineffective and needs to be replaced.
Our zinc oxide lasted less than 4 months.
We have encountered similar problems as well; let’s check again whether the imported zinc oxide contains other forms of sulfur, such as sulfides or thiophenes
