Are there any other software options for the design of petrochemical pipelines besides AutoCAD and PDMS? I just checked the posts; it seems someone mentioned the need for some 3D design software? Is this determined by different design institutes? 2. What books are needed for pipeline design and process design in the petrochemical industry? 3. What issues need to be considered in pipeline design? (This question might be too broad; I’m sorry.) 4. In general, what direction does pipeline design tend to develop in? Process design? 5. First, to answer your first question: in addition to what the original poster mentioned, PDS is also quite commonly used. There are also options like PDA and Aoto-PLANT, but these are not as widely used. The second question requires referring to the chemical pipeline manual, pressure pipeline specifications, the Design Code for Pipeline Layout in Chemical Plants 20549, HG20546 Design Code for Equipment Layout in Chemical Plants, the fastener manual, and HGT21629 – Pipe Rack Standards. These are all quite commonly used. Thirdly, I believe that when designing pipelines, it is essential to avoid making principle-related mistakes; space should be utilized reasonably to meet the needs of operation and maintenance as much as possible. The fourth question: Pipeline engineering is a relatively broad field. I’m not sure whether in this field, pipeline-related aspects are separated from other processes. If you are just starting to work in this field, I think it’s better to first master the basic knowledge of it. Once you have a solid foundation, you should study more about various processes and related fields. Without an understanding of these processes, it’s difficult to do pipeline work well. The fifth question: Fields that are closely related to pipeline engineering include process engineering, equipment design, structural engineering, architecture, instrumentation, external piping systems, water supply systems, and general layout planning. All of these fields rely on the requirements set by pipeline engineering. Additionally, there’s also material control, as well as electrical and telecommunications engineering – though those are considered smaller specialized fields. The software to use and the reference books to consult depend on the organization and the project; some organizations generally follow petrochemical regulations, so it is necessary to refer to those regulations as well as relevant reference books; Some organizations use chemical industry standards, in which case they need to refer to those standards and reference books. You should figure out your company’s rules first
PDS and PDMS are the two most commonly used materials at the moment; once you master one, learning the other is fairly straightforward
