I’m asking for help from the experts here. For projects that produce the same product using different processes, how can one compare the advantages and disadvantages of these various processes? ?
Comparisons can be made in terms of costs, consumption of raw materials and auxiliaries, investment, the environmental impact of the generated waste streams, product quality, etc. Another method is to consider the current industry-wide process trends.
The forward-looking nature of the process, the toxic and side effects of materials, energy conservation and emission reduction (the prices of water and electricity will surely be adjusted in the future), the utilization rate and consumption volume of recycled water, the total construction cost, operating expenses during the maintenance period, and the construction timeline can all be considered as part of the evaluation of the process
Mainly, several indicators are considered, such as energy consumption and productivity, as well as investment per unit of product.
Personally, I believe there are several aspects: 1. The advancement of the technology/process; (1) Reaction time ; (2) Reaction yield, or the conversion rate of the reaction ; (3) Raw material consumption for the product, that is, the unit consumption of raw materials for the product ; (4) Degree of automation ; (5) Leadership in product quality. 2. Advancedness of equipment (1) Innovation in key equipment ; (2) The degree of automation of the equipment. 3. Safety (1) Inherent safety of the device ; (2) Emergency safety of the device ; (3) In terms of safety automation control ; 3. Environmental protection aspects: (1) Total COD ; (2) Total amount of exhaust gas emissions ; (3) Total amount of waste discharged ; 4. Regarding one-time investments.
In addition to what the above-mentioned individuals have discussed, factors such as the project’s land area, annual operating costs, and operational flexibility should also be taken into consideration.
