A thermocouple used to measure high-temperature, high-pressure steam is broken; how should I replace it? Removing the damaged thermocouple directly – does that cause steam leakage?
It depends on whether it’s armored or not. If it is, you can simply remove the thermocouple insert
Thermocouples for high-temperature and high-pressure steam usually come with a protective sheath.
Direct component replacement (when there is no welding at the threads connecting the armor and the sleeve)
If it is armored, simply pull out the thermocouple wire and replace it with a good one.
If it’s armored and the outer cover isn’t leaking, just replace the core directly: lol
