I guess it can only be detected when water gushes up from underground; otherwise, it’s just a localized collapse, and there are few other good solutions. Now that they’ve aged, the pipelines will be gradually replaced. It is recommended to stop using carbon steel pipes; they won’t last long.
Leaks in underground pipelines are difficult to locate, unless water seeps out onto the surface. The simplest method is to search section by section: close all the valves in the clean water pipeline, then open them one by one starting from the back, and use the changes in pressure in the main pipe to determine where the leak is.
