In our plant’s liquid ammonia storage area, the required distance between ammonia tanks is greater than 0.6D. May I ask everyone here what D refers to in this 0.6D?
It should be the effective diameter of the liquid ammonia storage tank. We have 2.8-meter liquid ammonia storage tanks, with a spacing of 1.8 meters, which is roughly 0.6 times the diameter.

I agree with the views of the two people above; the required distance between ammonia tanks in a liquid ammonia storage area should be greater than 0.6D, where D is the diameter of the ammonia tank.
Why is the required distance between ammonia tanks in a liquid ammonia storage area set at more than 0.6D? We have horizontal ammonia tanks with a capacity of 100 m3, and per the regulatory requirements, an interval of only 3 meters is required between them.

The building design fire protection code or the petrochemical fire protection code applies to the handling of liquefied hydrocarbons
D represents the diameter. According to building codes, the spacing between horizontal storage tanks is 0.8 meters, and the fire separation distance between two rows of such tanks should be no less than 3 meters.
GB50260-2008 requires the same safety measures for liquid ammonia as those for liquefied hydrocarbons.
Do you use vertical or horizontal storage tanks for liquid ammonia? It seems that the spacing requirements are different for the two types, right?
