Actually, I feel that doing design work is quite exhausting; being a teacher is relatively easier. A person who has been working as a designer for 20 years might earn around 200,000 per year, which is already decent. On the other hand, a university professor with 20 years of experience can potentially earn over a million per year during good years. Compared to this, isn’t it much better to be a professor than to be a designer?

To be part of the academic community, you must frequently participate in related activities—attending conferences, writing your own papers, and reviewing others’ papers; Writing applications oneself and reviewing others’ applications—today’s students are also difficult to handle. Don’t think that being a university professor is easy at all
I don’t want to do either; neither seems interesting at all
It should be said that the status of professors is higher than that of senior engineers in design institutes. It’s more difficult to become a professor than to become a senior engineer in such institutes. Moreover, on average, professors enjoy both higher status and better income than those senior engineers. Therefore, it’s certainly better to become a professor.
There are quite a lot of schools now. Professors also vary in quality! Now there are more design institutes. The level of senior engineers is even less commendable! Maybe it’s not a matter of income. It still depends on what kind of work suits me! Just because someone can be a professor doesn’t mean they can do good design work. The reverse is also true! Doing 20 designs a year and earning only 200,000 yuan isn’t really all that great! There are still plenty of professors who have been doing research for 20 years, yet fail to earn 200,000 yuan per year!
There are quite a few incompetent professors too. The 40-year-old guy who taught us about electrical equipment in power plants was a complete jerk!
:Funk: Do professors still do research? Amazing indeed :lol
I want to be a lackadaisical professor—that way I’d have more holidays. But first, I have to get my PhD
Yes, people who like scientific research might not necessarily be capable of doing design work. If given a choice, for those in engineering, I recommend going into design.
I think it depends on one’s own aspirations! !
