I would like to ask the experts: What is the principle behind magnetic flap level gauges? Is it related to the density of the substance? Some flap level gauges have density requirements specified on their nameplates! Does the flap not float when the density is insufficient? Thank you

It should be related to density. I wonder if the poster has used a hydrometer; it works on the same principle – if the density of the medium changes, it can no longer be used.
The working principle of the magnetic flip-type level gauge is based on the U-tube principle. When the liquid level inside the device changes, the liquid level within the magnetic flip columns also changes in sync with it. The float inside the level gauge is magnetic; as the liquid level changes, the height of the float changes as well. The magnetism of the float causes the magnetic flip columns (i.e., the red and white columns visible on the outside of the level gauge) to change as well. The density of the medium determines the size of the float.
