Someone said that when dealing with accidents, the principle of “not letting go of four things” should be followed. That’s right, but in the actual process of handling accidents, some companies turn this principle into “not letting go of just one thing”. In order to minimize the impact of accidents, some companies conduct only a cursory investigation into how the accident occurred, and punish those responsible by reducing their salaries. Indirect managers were transferred and removed from their positions. The handling is quite forceful. Once handled, this incident will be considered resolved. Can such a approach achieve the security management goals we desire? No. Personally, I think the other “three don’t let go” principles are also very important. First of all, every accident has its direct and indirect causes. Is it due to human error, habitual violations of regulations, improper operation, defects in equipment installation or operation despite being faulty, or is it caused by the production environment? All of these require timely and detailed further analysis and demonstration after an accident occurs. Identify the real sources of insecurity. Only in this way can continuous improvements be made in future safety management efforts, in order to prevent similar accidents from occurring again. Secondly, using this accident as a negative example, draw lessons from it and carry out safety education through various channels and formats. Ensure that all employees are aware, improve their skills, voluntarily abide by rules and regulations, and earnestly follow safety procedures. Reduce the occurrence of human-caused accidents. Finally, it is also important to establish appropriate safety measures to address this accident. It’s difficult to investigate the cause of an accident, mainly because after the accident arises, many issues related to responsibilities and interests get involved. Those responsible for the accident and the relevant departments always try to shirk their responsibilities; they lie, conceal the truth, fabricate false information, and deny any illegal actions, which makes things very complicated for investigators.
