At such high temperatures, graphite packing should be used. If there is severe leakage, it is necessary to replace the packing. If the packing doesn’t last long, could it be that the valve is experiencing surge, which causes faster wear of the packing? It is necessary to adjust the valve positioner to keep the valve stable.
I think that during the packing process, some small particles got trapped between the valve stem and the packing; when the valve stem moves, this creates friction that damages the packing and leads to leakage. This is my opinion
