Personally, I don’t see any difference in the process; the difference lies in the equipment: the heating chamber tubes of the natural circulation evaporator are completely filled with the medium to be evaporated; In rising-film evaporation, the lower part of the tube bundle is filled with the process medium, while the upper part is used for film formation (there should be a certain ratio between these two parts, right?) ) The above are purely my personal opinions; I hope everyone can offer their corrections!
I’ve worked with both of these evaporators, so let me explain the differences between them. 1. The heating tube you mentioned, which operates under natural circulation, isn’t completely filled with liquid; the entire length of the tube is covered with a film-like layer, which is formed by a liquid distributor at the top. 2. In the case of the rising-film type, a film forms along the upper portion of the tube; this film is created when the liquid is heated and boils, and there’s a certain proportion involved in this process. 3. Natural circulation can be repeated multiple times; film formation occurs only once in the case of rise-film method.
4. Natural circulation allows for a wider range of load adjustments, while the rise-film method has more limitations in this regard (as it affects film formation).
5. Natural circulation is easier to operate than the rise-film method.
6. Natural circulation is more commonly used nowadays; the rise-film method has become rather obsolete

Whether it’s a rising-film or falling-film system, both essentially involve adding a rising-film or falling-film device to a regular evaporation tube. The fluid flows along the film-distributing device; this configuration increases the contact area and is used for processing dirty materials, thereby preventing scaling.
