What model of drain valve is suitable for the outlet condensate in a reboiler that is heated by steam?
For the condensate traps at the reboiler outlet, we use free-floating ball type steam traps, which perform well; they are also more energy-efficient than thermodynamic types.
Use a float-type one; it drains water as soon as it appears, and the effect is good.
To improve energy utilization, if the amount of condensate is large, a combination of a condensate tank and an expansion vessel can be considered to enable hierarchical use of high-pressure and low-pressure steam. If a steam trap is to be used, based on my experience with various installations, I recommend float-type or inverted bucket-type steam traps. Thermal types are prone to air leakage. It should also be noted that steam traps have a limited lifespan, and they need to be replaced in a timely manner; otherwise, energy waste will occur
Mechanical steam traps are the preferred choice. For low-pressure applications with a condensate volume of less than 7 tons, bucket-type or free-floating ball-type traps should be used; for applications with a condensate volume of more than 7 tons, lever-ball-type traps are appropriate. The reboiler has a large amount of condensate water, so a steam trap is not used. It is best to use a steam expansion vessel, with the low-pressure steam from flashing being used as steam for the deaerator. The condensate water is also easy to recover.
First, the constant-temperature type steam trap. We have installed a control valve at the steam outlet of the reboiler to directly regulate the temperature.
