I would appreciate it if fellow maritime professionals could provide information on the selection of measuring instruments for determining the interfaces of different liquids in the liquid storage tanks at their respective companies. These instruments are mainly used in gas-water separation units and phenol-amine recovery units. A vibrating densitometer is used for automatic control, reducing the manual work required by workers to drain liquid and oil and thus lightening their workload, with the aim of reducing staff while improving efficiency.
Which brand of vibrating densitometer does your company use?

If it is only used to replace manual oil drainage, a mechanical level control device will suffice. I’ve forgotten what this device is called; it was already available in my previous workplace. I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time, but later I read about its working principle in some documents. Its structural design seems quite simple, yet it’s also amazing – even more ingenious than a balance vessel. If it is controlled by a gauge, isn’t it sufficient to simply measure the level? I wonder how a vibrating densitometer works.
Float-type level gauges can measure the ratio of two substances at a certain height; they are also known as interface level gauges. However, they are used to control the ratio of fluids and seem to be rarely employed in storage tanks.

These are the only types I know: 1. The mechanical type mentioned above; I really forgot what its technical name is. Ask an expert in manufacturing processes; this isn’t a pipe related to instrumentation. 2. Common level detection instruments: floats and differential pressure transmitters. 3. When the instrument mentioned in point 2 is not suitable, for example when the density difference between the two media is very small, an instrument called a conductive level gauge can be tried. Please consult Mr. pH7 within the site; he has excellent professional skills, it’s just a shame that he rarely appears in the instrument area. He is familiar with this type of conductivity measurement.
