Our company uses petroleum benzene produced by Qilu Petrochemical; some of the impurities present in it are difficult to identify. Does anyone know what components are contained in it?»
This post was last edited by qugd on 2011-2-23 21:56. The main component of petroleum benzene is benzene; aromatic impurities generally include toluene, xylene, and ethylbenzene, but in very small amounts. There will also be some non-aromatic impurities.

The impurities in the samples from different tank trucks will vary. It’s necessary to remove those harmful impurities. This will make it easier to operate
I have been involved in the conversion of coal to oil; the relevant compounds include naphtha, toluene, non-aromatic hydrocarbons, xylene, and ethylbenzene. The first few of these are present in relatively large quantities, while the others are present in small amounts. The main task is to separate out those other compounds, and of course this process requires hydrogenation first
Reply to 5# hl521812: It depends on the solvent you use for extraction; impurities will be generated once the solvent undergoes slight decomposition; Then there’s the raw material – it’s necessary to check what impurities are present in it when it arrives.
We use N-formylmorpholine produced by the Southwest Research Institute. It is indeed effective, but the problem is that it decomposes when exposed to water, producing formic acid and morpholine, which makes the solvent acidic. However, moisture is inevitably present in the crude product, so the solvent needs to be replaced after some time of use! The cost increases relatively!
