Aniline requires a carrier to improve octane number
Adding 1% aniline to gasoline of around 90# increases its octane rating by approximately 3 points. Aniline has a melting point of around -6 degrees Celsius and tends to crystallize, so it is not suitable for use at low temperatures. Additionally, aniline reduces the antioxidant properties of gasoline; therefore, an appropriate amount of antioxidant must be added when using it. Aniline turns brown when exposed to light or left for long periods, which affects the color of the gasoline
