In this facility, wastewater treatment starts with the removal of fluoride ions, achieved through the addition of slaked lime and polyaluminum salts for flocculation and sedimentation. After that, it is necessary to adjust the pH value; originally, hydrochloric acid was used for this purpose. Later, since chloride ions can be harmful to biochemical treatment processes, sulfuric acid was used instead for neutralization.
