Recently, I came across the JB/T1609-1993 \"Technical Requirements for the Manufacturing of Boiler Vessels\", which specifies requirements regarding the inclination of the end faces of caps. I would like to ask how to measure the inclination of the end faces of spherical caps, and whether such requirements exist in the inspection standards for pressure vessels
May I ask what the standards for spherical end caps are? If there are no standards, how can you measure them? Or rather, how do you determine whether it is qualified after making the measurement? ? We use spherical heads in accordance with certain regulations outlined in 12337~

Well~ it’s a bit of an assumption, haha. But I don’t think it’s necessary to measure the inclination of the end face. First, according to standard 4746, the ends of the head should be trimmed and used as a benchmark for dimension and shape inspection; if followed by this standard, then the end face shouldn’t have any inclination. Second, even if there is some inclination: elliptical heads all have straight sections, and once they arrive they are used to be joined to the cylinder. Before joining, the end face needs to be roughly shaped and prepared, with bevels created etc., before welding. Personally, I think a slight inclination shouldn’t cause any problems~ It’s just my opinion~
I’m in a similar urgent situation right now – my company needs to obtain certificates for the boiler components, and after checking the boiler standards, I found that there are specific requirements regarding the inclination angle of the end faces of ellipsoidal and spherical heads. I don’t know what to do, so I’m posting this question for advice
