Regarding the carrier gas

The chromatography column we use is OV-101, and the carrier gas is nitrogen. Should we use bottled gas or a generator? Please share your suggestions
Nitrogen is used as the carrier gas; it is best to use nitrogen in a cylinder. Firstly, the nitrogen cylinder provides gas without requiring any power source, and there is no need to consider other utility requirements. Secondly, the purity of bottled nitrogen is guaranteed, and high-purity nitrogen is not expensive. Third, bottled nitrogen has a high degree of dryness, and dehydration is generally not required. The performance and quality of gas generators are really unreliable; they may cost a lot of money, yet their effectiveness cannot be guaranteed.
Both methods are feasible, but the choice should be based on the current situation of each factory; the main considerations are convenience and the amount of usage required. The operation of today’s generators is also very simple, and the purity level can be maintained at a high level, which makes them convenient to use. There is a large supply available, and if the amount of nitrogen needed is not large, then it’s definitely more convenient to use gas cylinders. Haha! !
It seems that bottled versions are used more often, and the purity of the generator version is lower than that of the bottled version.
