Our device is used for backflow injection during the processing of a certain type of oil. What is the main function of the scale inhibitor? It is mainly to prevent the formation of which substance in crude oil
Scale inhibitors are generally additives used to prevent impurities in oil from causing coking under high temperatures. I’ve only seen them used frequently in the slurry systems of catalytic units; it’s the first time I’ve heard of their use in atmospheric pressure units. I guess they’re used to prevent coking in the intermediate and residue systems when all of the feedstock is heavy oil
It is mainly injected to prevent coking of high-temperature oils; it appears frequently in the vacuum side streams and mid-stage refluxes of our atmospheric and vacuum distillation units. I believe the same principle applies when it is injected in the atmospheric pressure system as well.

Heavy oils contain a high level of asphaltenes, which tend to precipitate and condense within the oil, ultimately leading to scaling in equipment. After the addition of a scale inhibitor, its main function is to provide free radicals, thereby preventing the condensation process of asphaltenes and slowing down this condensation, which in turn achieves the purpose of preventing scaling.
