Xiaoliu graduated with a master’s degree in chemical engineering this year, and two companies have offered him opportunities. He’s having trouble making a decision, so I earnestly ask those of you with more experience to give him some advice! The companies are not large-scale. The departments where positions are available are in the same industry – oil refining process design. One company is located in Beijing; it’s a private enterprise with 400 employees. The basic salary there is 3,500 yuan, and employees who have Beijing residency are provided with communal apartments. Another company is located in Dalian; it’s a state-owned enterprise with 300 employees. The basic salary there is 1,500 yuan, and the HR department says that positions come with official job titles and accommodation is provided. Although the companies are average, this is about as good as one can expect at a low level. I’m a person who struggles to make decisions; most of my classmates and my supervisor suggest that I stay in Beijing, while most of my family members advise me to go to Dalian. Many people from Haiyouli hold senior positions in large engineering companies across the country; I would be extremely grateful if you could offer some advice!
Stay in Beijing. After all, your classmates and supervisor have more exposure to the outside world, and your parents might prefer it if you stay close to home. Just a gentle question: are you female? Do you live in Dalian? :lol
Reply to 2# Guanzhong Talent: What are you thinking about? I’m just a silly guy from Shandong. Hehe, thanks for your advice!
I’m just like you – I also graduated with a master’s degree this year. Based on what I know, I would recommend Dalian. I’m not sure if the company you’re referring to in Dalian is a design institute Could it be that engineering company in Dalian belonging to CNPC?
Reply to 4# sunyanz37: You’re right. There is only one company in Dalian that specializes in petrochemical design. You know this company, right? To be honest, I’ve only attended an interview there once, so I really don’t know much about it. Could you please give me some advice? My QQ number is 411942160
The salary in Beijing isn’t high at the moment, but there should be an annual bonus. Commissions for designed projects are high; by working in the design industry in Beijing, you can start from a better position, which will lay a foundation for your future career development. You need to think ahead, my friend.
Reply to 4# sunyanz37: Hey brother, after reading your other posts I learned about your field of study. It seems to me like we’re from the same place. Let me introduce myself first – I’m a graduate student in chemical engineering, class of 2008, from CUP
Hey, I’m also a master’s graduate in chemical engineering and work in design in Beijing. Which company are you looking for that will allow you to register your residence there?
Reply to 7# jsliu2008: It’s not really true; I’m from DLUT
If you want to stay in Beijing, the household registration is worth 100,000. If you’re going to Dalian, it’s best to prepare with a low income, as housing prices there are also high
