In power systems, the term “synchronization” is often heard. Could you please explain what a synchronization point is, what a synchronization device is, which devices are included in it, and what its main function is?
It is an indicating and monitoring device used when the generator is operating in grid connection; it can be a synchronism meter, a zero-voltage meter, or an out-of-synchronism indicator light. When the voltage and frequency of the generator match those of the power grid, and the pointer of the synchronism indicator points to the upper center position with the out-of-sync indicator at its dimmest, it indicates that the generator to be connected is in phase with the power grid; at this point, the connection can be made promptly.
