In actual production, the initial boiling point of naphtha is measured as a quality inspection parameter; however, there is no such parameter for crude oil. Yet, descriptions related to the storage of crude oil mention its initial boiling point. I would like to know whether these two values are identical or roughly the same, and why

Naphtha is a light component of crude oil, usually extracted from the first side stream of an atmospheric distillation column; Crude oil also contains some lighter components. Generally speaking, the initial boiling points of naphtha and crude oil are roughly the same. Should naphtha be drawn off at normal pressure? Does the first side stream also produce naphtha?
Reply to 2# gujiaming1985: After checking some information, I found that the initial boiling point of naphtha varies over a wide range, generally between 25 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius. May I ask again, by how many degrees Celsius does the freezing point usually differ from the initial boiling point?
Freezing point and initial boiling point are two completely different concepts with no connection between them

Naphtha is a lighter fraction of crude oil; its initial boiling point depends on the distillation conditions of the crude oil or the feedstock used to produce it. The initial boiling point of crude oil can be very low, even as low as a few degrees below zero, provided that special methods are used for collecting the distillates during the distillation process. Naphtha is a petroleum product that can originate from crude oil or from oils produced through other processing processes. The initial boiling point is determined based on the requirements of the subsequent process or those of this product. The initial boiling points of these two oils can be the same or different.

Naphtha is a by-product of oil refining; it is what remains after refining, and its carbon composition ranges from C5 to C9. It is mostly used as raw material for producing ethylene through cracking.
I don’t think it’s a problem if the initial boiling point of crude oil is low, because both the flash tower and the atmospheric distillation column produce gas components, while naphtha is heavier than gas!
