Our company is mainly engaged in the design of water treatment processes. This year, the management plans to introduce 3D software for such design work. The engineering drawings that need to be produced include assembly diagrams and frame diagrams for reverse osmosis systems, as well as assembly diagrams and frame diagrams for ultrafiltration systems. There are also piping diagrams for filters and mixed-bed systems, plus 3D layout diagrams of the pipes within the factory. We are all beginners, and since there are many 3D software options available, we first tried out INVENTOR and AUTOCAD PLANT 3D. After trying them out, I found that each of these two software programs has its own strengths. INVENTOR is more effective for creating assembly diagrams and rack diagrams for reverse osmosis systems, as well as assembly diagrams and rack diagrams for ultrafiltration systems; it’s also good for creating piping diagrams for filters and mixed-bed systems. However, it’s more complicated when it comes to 3D piping layout ; AUTOCAD PLANT 3D is more suitable for 3D piping, but it is not good for assembly. Therefore, I would like to ask the experienced colleagues here: is there any 3D software that performs well in both of the areas I mentioned? Thank you
No 3D software can excel in both of the aforementioned aspects; using multiple software programs together is also a good option.
The reverse osmosis assembly diagrams and frame diagrams, as well as the ultrafiltration assembly diagrams and frame diagrams, are drawings related to the equipment field; whereas the piping diagrams and single-line diagrams are drawings related to the piping field – they represent two different specialties. Two different software combinations are required for use.
