Let’s discuss everyone’s understanding of how to maintain the pressure in a distillation atmospheric tower
The regulation of the pressure in the atmospheric pressure column is carried out through venting from this column; ultimately, the key factor determining this pressure is the amount of heat supplied to it by the pressure column. Even a slight change in the temperature at the top of the pressure column has a significant impact on the pressure in the atmospheric pressure column. Therefore, stabilizing the temperature at the top of the pressure column is the fundamental way to maintain stable pressure in the atmospheric pressure column. As we know, the boiling point of methanol is related to pressure. At the top of the pressure column, we have pure methanol, so the temperature there corresponds to the boiling point of methanol under that pressure. Thus, by stabilizing the pressure in the pressure column, we can also stabilize its top temperature. The pressure at the top of the pressure column is determined by various factors, such as the heat supplied to it, the concentration of alcohol inside the column, and the control methods available, including venting. Therefore, once we understand how to regulate the pressure in the pressure column, we can control the pressure in the atmospheric pressure column as well. (It would be best if we could stabilize the heat source of the pressure tower in order to stabilize the entire distillation process.) )]
