The temperature of the front bearing of the motor in our electrode water centrifugal pump is usually around 69 degrees; sometimes it rises to about 110–150 degrees. There are no abnormal sounds coming from the pump or the motor, and their vibrations are also generally normal. The rotational speed of our motor is 3000 r/min. May I ask everyone, what are the causes of overheating in motor bearings, and how can it be resolved?
What does it mean for vibrations to be basically normal? If the sound of the motor bearings is normal, I suspect there is an issue with alignment; please recheck it. Secondly, do not add too much lubricant to the motor, and check whether the motor fan is working properly.
Putting aside other doubts, there is a suspicion that the coaxiality of the pump and motor is problematic.
The temperature is over 100 degrees; there’s nothing more to say. I’ll take a look after replacing the bearing. If the new bearing still heats up too quickly, look for mechanical issues, such as misalignment or overloading.
It’s already over 100 degrees; it’s likely that the axes are not aligned properly. Sometimes, as the load on the motor increases (when the pump imposes a high load on the motor), vibrations can affect the alignment of the axes. It is recommended to realign them.
If there’s no vibration, it’s basically due to an overly small bearing clearance. The temperature will be high. Quality issues with the oil.
Is it a new machine or one that has been in use for a long time? What size is the motor? The temperature is often around 69 degrees. What’s going on? Generally, no more than 95 degrees is fine. Is it that after turning it on, the temperature gradually rises to 69 degrees, and then continues to rise, or does it stabilize? Is it just at this one point that a temperature as high as 110–150 degrees is measured? Theoretically, at such a high level, it shouldn’t be able to turn on. How did you measure it? Infrared thermometers can be quite inaccurate sometimes. The distance should not be far, and the angles must be tangent. First, replace the grease to see if it has gone bad, or if there’s too much/too little of it, or if the wrong grade was used. No good. Replace the bearing again. The high temperature of the front bearing isn’t closely related to the motor blades; have you checked the temperature of the motor casing? If that doesn’t work, check whether the centering and anchor bolts are loose. If that doesn’t work, it’s a problem with the motor. Such as when the shaft is misaligned. Also, check whether there are any changes in the operating conditions of your medium at high temperatures?
