For the bid on sleeve valves, the design institute has chosen 304 for the valve seat; however, after further consideration, 410 after heat treatment was selected. A technical specification is needed to explain why 410 after heat treatment was chosen
I found some information to take a look at; 410 stainless steel is a grade of stainless steel produced in accordance with the American ASTM standards. It is equivalent to China’s 21Cr13 stainless steel, also known as S41000 (per American AISI/ASTM standards). Contains 0.01% carbon and 0.13% chromium; 410 stainless steel: possesses good corrosion resistance and machinability, and is used for general-purpose cutting tools and valves. Heat treatment of 410 stainless steel: Solution treatment at (°C) 800–900, with slow cooling or rapid cooling at 750. Chemical composition of 410 stainless steel: C≤0.15, Si≤1.00, Mn≤1.00, P≤0.035, S≤0.030, Cr=11.50~13.50. 410 stainless steel is a ferritic stainless steel; its strength can be increased through heat treatment. It is magnetic, and its corrosion resistance is inferior to that of the 300 series. 410 possesses good corrosion resistance and machinability, and is used for general-purpose applications, cutting tools, mechanical parts, oil refining equipment, bolts, nuts, pump shafts, as well as tableware of category 1 (knives and forks).
