How can PRO2 be used to simulate the fractional distillation separator (ARS) in cryogenic separation? With just a cold box, there is only heat exchange and no mass exchange. If anyone has experience with this, please share some suggestions; I would be very grateful!
Can a separation tower be used in place of this?
Reply to 2# peixuemei: I’ve also considered it; there are two options: 1 is to use a series of heat exchangers and flash tanks, with the liquid in the flash tanks being combined at the end and treated as the liquid phase; 2 refers to using a tower as a substitute, as one set of fractional distillation separators can handle 10 to 15 theoretical plates; I’m not sure whether this approach of using a tower as a replacement is feasible. Does the expert on the 2nd floor also do ethylene separation?
Reply to 3# Elf: I’m not sure if there are any rules in place for you, but when we did it, we used a distillation column with 10–15 trays; the number of trays varies depending on the actual circumstances. I work with ethylene

Reply to 6# Elf: It should be possible to calculate it, but I don’t have much experience in this area. I’ve calculated for acrylic chillers before, but I didn’t get a final result.
