Ladies and gentlemen, the underground clean water pipelines used in our company are intended for both production and fire-fighting purposes. When not in use, the flow rate of water in some sections of these pipelines is very low; after 8 years of use, internal corrosion began to occur in these pipelines, with a large number of rust deposits resembling stalactites forming inside them. The water we use is high-hardness and high-alkalinity water; its calcium hardness is 380 mg/l, alkalinity is 310 mg/l, chloride content is 160 mg/l, and sulfate content is 260 mg/l. The pipeline is made of Q235 material and is a spiral-welded steel pipe. I would like to ask the experts how to prevent corrosion and pitting in pipelines?
In such a slightly alkaline environment, it is appropriate to apply a water-based inorganic zinc-rich coating after sandblasting the inner wall.
Non-metallic pipes can be used; plastic composite pipes with a steel framework are an excellent choice, so please give them consideration.
