For ordinary atmospheric-pressure storage tanks, is it necessary to install a liquid seal in the section connecting the tank outlet to the transfer pump? Thank you!
I don’t think it’s necessary at all. A liquid seal is installed when it is not possible to control something using valves during production, or when valves cannot provide a proper seal. Moreover, the extraction port of a storage tank is always located at the bottom, so how can a liquid seal be installed there?
There’s no need to install a liquid seal at atmospheric pressure, right? The height of the extraction port on the storage tank is generally greater than or equal to the suction inlet of the pump; as long as the pump does not suffer from cavitation, that should be sufficient
There is absolutely no need to do that; the pump inlet and similar components are located at the bottom of the tank
Using a liquid seal is unnecessary; it’s a very simple solution.
A liquid seal can be designed to be used for isolation during equipment maintenance, and is not needed during normal production.
