I would like to ask everyone: what are the potential hazards if the outlet valve is not opened for an extended period of time after the centrifugal pump starts operating?
If the temperature of the medium inside the pump rises for an extended period, gas will be generated, which can cause some erosion to the pump.
The mechanical energy originally transmitted to the liquid through the rotation of the impeller is converted into internal energy, raising the temperature of the liquid; over time this can lead to vaporization, causing damage to the pump. Additionally, prolonged pressure buildup inside the pump can result in leaks.
The greatest hazard lies in the conversion of kinetic energy into thermal energy, which raises the temperature of the fluid and may lead to cavitation after operation. The shut-off head is generally 1.1 times the operating head, and it does not pose any risk to safety.
Cavitation is likely to occur, as well as leakage from the mechanical seal and the cover; heat transfer to the bearings leads to an increase in temperature.
Simply put, it’s cavitation; but if your pump has a minimum backflow, then there’s no problem
Is a return channel provided in the pump-equipped body? We usually connect a return pipe to the outlet pipe to lead the material back to the storage tank. I have never seen this type of pump; could you tell me what kinds of pumps are like this? Or which letter in the model number indicates this structure?
