Yokogawa CS3000 control motor

I’m not trained in process control, so I don’t know much about this area. Our company’s DCS system is the Yokogawa CS3000. I’ve noticed that the starting and stopping of motors in our company are controlled through the DCS system, which in turn controls the PLCs that manage the motors. I was wondering if it’s possible to control the motors directly using the CS3000, via relays and contactors, without going through a PLC. Thank you so much! If it’s possible, why would our company use a PLC?
Of course, the motor can be controlled directly through DCS; the PLC is perhaps part of the motor system itself, but it should be redundant
The PLC should come as part of the equipment; the DCS facilitates data access to the PLC via communication, thereby enabling control of the motor. When there is a problem with the DCS, the PLC can still operate normally; the PLC has higher reliability. Not everything needs to be connected to the DCS for control; we need to consider appropriate centralization as well as appropriate decentralization.
